The first color of lipstick I ever learned to wear was RED. I was around six years old, maybe. And every Sunday without fail, I would pace around my Lola's room while she was getting ready for church. I'd stand beside her vanity and watch her as she went about her beauty routine, patiently waiting and hoping that she'd put some lipstick on me too. (Yes, igat najud ko, even at six years old. LOL) And she always did. Her favorite shade? RED.
Red is one of my favorite colors in general. And as far as lipsticks go, a girl can never have too many reds. I think they're perfect for "power lips" or even for those lazy days when you can't be bothered with a full face of makeup. Red lips will disguise the laziness and make you look like you actually gave a rats ass about looking human. hahaha...
I know there are some cult favorites out there. And honestly, I have quite a a number of reds in my artillery, that it's hard to pick just five. But today I'm listing 5 of my more current loves.
L'Oreal Paris Collection Star Pure Rouge (Freida Pinto)

This probably tops my list as my go-to red these days. It's a true red, bordering on almost blue-based and is a striking dupe for MAC's Russian Red for color, and Ruby Woo for color and finish!
L'Oreal Paris Collection Star Pure Garnet (Sonam Kapoor)

Pure Garnet is a deeper, darker, wine red that just screams POWERFUL. I hear it's a really good dupe for MAC's Diva, too.
LA Girl Matte Pigment Gloss in Frisky

This one is a straight to the point, no nonsense red liquid lipstick that will last on your lips for hours. It can be a bit drying, but i find that dabbing a tiny bit of carmex after a few hours of wear makes it less uncomfortable. If you are a fan of the Lime Crime Velvetines in Red Velvet (which used to be one of my favorites, by the way), then this is something you'll love. Red Velvet just happens to be a bit brighter and more "firetruck" red looking.

This one is a deeper, vampier red, and is a pretty good dupe for Lime Crime's Wicked.
MAC Magic of the Night Lipstick in All Fired Up

MAC Counters/Rustan's
All Fired Up was originally released in the Retro Matte line, and is one of the permanent shades repackaged for the Magic of the Night Collection. This shade is actually described as a bright, matte, fuchsia which is pretty accurate if you ask me. I'm including this here because it's the only pink-red shade I've ever liked. The fact that it's a comfortable matte lipstick, plus the adorable packaging probably has a lot to do with that. haha
